EDUCATION
At present there are 71 Boys & Girls, approx. 18 salaried workers who look after Ashram and Children. Children are study in the reputed schools and colleges of Dehraduntown . All the expenses are beard by the ashram itself, like fees and other expenses. Students are sent to Gurukul for studying where there fees are likely to be Rs.1000 or Rs 1200 or more. Ashram has its own arrangements for the primary education and made an arrangement of 8 female teachers for homework etc of boys and girls at ashram. Our children are motivated to participate in all the Social, Cultural and Educational activities happening around the city, whether its debate, music, intelligence or sports.
TRAVEL
A 20 seater mini bus has been arranged for transportation. It is used for taking children to school, colleges, hospital and various other mean of transportation for daily needs of children.Apart from this it also used to takes children to various parts of country.
MEDICAL
Since infection and disease cannot be avoided where 80-90 people are residing together; there is always possibility that some or the other is either infected or ill. A team of highly specialised and experienced doctors are looking round the clock for the health of children at ashram without any remuneration for this social work. On the other hand owner of Commercial Motors Dehradun,Shri Hukum Chand Ji has given a free Homeopathic Clinic with in the premises for children in the memory of his elder brother Late Seth Devi Chand with a donation of Rs.50000.00. Not only the belonging of this ashram but other also been benefited from this dispensary.
AUDITORIUM
Ashram missed and big auditorium initially. But Shri H.S.Bisht JiManaging Director SecurityandDetectivePvt.Ltd.Encouraged from Delhi donated Rs.300000.00 due to which ashram was able to build a large auditorium for Rs.1200000.00. Now the board of members is considering that public can take advantage of this huge building.
Children are residing at ashram without bearing any expenses, they are benefited by daily meals, care, medical expenses, and educational expenses are beard by ashram workers itself. Arya SamajDhamawala Dehradun enjoys its own identity and credibility from its formation to independence movement, through many sacrifices and courage.AyaSamaj has dome remarkable job in areas like Female education, uplifment of Schedule Cast, drug prevention, education, propaganda, character buildingthen why not in upbringing of Children of Ashram.
MARRIAGE
Female reside in Ashram till the age of 18 years after that ashram invites grooms by advertisement through suitable News Papers. It is unbelievable that after selection of more than 100-150 a suitable groom is selected and call for an interview. Information is gathered from the Arya Samaj Officers on their locations, after verification and data collection female select best life partner. Females are fully independent to choose their life partner and marry. Various social institutions like Lions Club, Rotary Club volunteer to marry these girls by donating household goods, similarly like an Indian family gives her daughter at the time of marriage. Girls from these ashram has been married to various people who are engineers doctors, merchants etc. In the past 82 years Ashram haven’t noticed any failed marriage. Every year 3 or 4 girls are married from Ashram.
Children with parents but denied due to social unacceptance
To girls.These children’s are often killed or aborted to avoid shame. To avoid killing of these children Ashram has put a cradle at the gate so that babies can be left in it.After extensive medical examination and written application to police these children are adopted by ashram. The upbringing of these children is done with full admiration and care. Ashram is pledged to build the future of these children. Very small and infants require extensive care while there upbringing, due to lack of costuming and special tools Ashram is bounded for their adoption. Considering state laws small or big children are given to the couples who don’t have either children or have lost capability to have child in future. Thus these couple gets children and on the other hand these children get love and affection of parents and thereby secure and safe future. It is glad notice that couple who adopt doesn’t differentiate between a girl and boy. These couple after adoptive proceeding makes these kids their successor and inherits their properties. Ashram children are adopted by those whose annual income is 40 Lacs and 50 Lacs. Social service institutions, hospitals, social workers, court and police send female to Ashram.
MANAGEMENT
It is very clear whenever 15 member managing committee is elected, 6 members are from Arya SamajDhamawala intimate gathering and Pradhan of Tenth Arya SamajDhamawala is also Pradhan of Ashram. A representative from the family of Donor Shri Mukund Lal Ji Raees and 4 social workers are named. All five heads (District MagistrateDehradun, District SchoolInspector, Civil Surgeon, policeandsocial welfareofficersin eachdistrictareinvited to attend. It means that the team of well-wishers of city, responsibleofficials, volunteer and honest workers operates ashram. Shri Om Prakash Nangia (Retd. Engineer O.N.G.C.) is responsible for the progress of this ashram as he serves this ashram 24/7 without any selfishness . It must be admitted that Gaushala (Cow Shed)is an essential part of Ashram and no Ashram is complete without Gaushala in India.
Children drink milk and stay healthy but alsovirtuousdesiresareawakened. SoAshramhasbuiltacowshed. After comsuption of milk by the children at aaashram , the rest is sold at market rate to others. Regular visit od Doctors ensure that cows are healthy and raised by experienced herdsman.
DINING
Although there is a team for making food in kitchen at Ashram, they provide food all the meals throughout the day. But the people of this city don’t forget ashram whether its good or bad time, so there is long que of people who regularly donate food. Menu has been decided for ashram, so donator just has to fix the day and the food is get prepared within the kitchen itself. It has replaced cooking and transportation of food raw material cooking and serving at ashram. Donators just have to pay the desired amount for the particular day, if willing they can increase the amount, in addition to the food these extra dishes will be served to children according to donators.
INDUSTRY
Initially ashram produced hosiery products and chalk marl. But handmade chalk wasn’t able to compete machine era and market and died later. Initially there was no band in Dehradun city. Ashram was only one who provided band to all the occasion whether it’s rich or poor. Students of ashram started independent band in town as a result now we have band market with many bands. Now our children’s are working in factories, some are painter and some photographer.( Some were working at scooter and cycle repairing workshops, but there was adverse effect on them, they started consuming cigarettes , alcohol, later they were called back to save their future.)
Today we are exploring new business opportunity for children which can be started with less capital and maintain a sustained life. As we are aware that government doesn’t enough job opportunity to accommodate these children.
Candles, Poppadum, Cigar, repairs, pickles, and computer repair are some of the home industry that we are working upon. It’s not possible for all to get government job.

In service of human and humanity since 1924.Established by Martyr Late Shri Shranandji, foundation laid by father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi Ji in 1929. Inauguration of ashram building is done by Shri RajshriPuroshotam Das Tandon Ji in 1931. Its fundiong is governed by Arya SamajDhamawala Dehradun.
